Welcome to Gortanewry Farm at The Jungle, where history and tradition come alive in Moneymore, County Derry/Londonderry. While it may be the latest addition to the family of attractions, Gortanewry Farm’s roots run deep, steeped in the heritage and legacy of five generations of the Carmichael family. After years of nurturing this treasured land, Robert Carmichael has made the bold decision to unveil its beauty to the world, alongside our renowned sites, The Jungle and Splash Outdoor Waterpark.
Since its inception in July 2005, The Jungle has blossomed into Ireland’s premier outdoor activity provider and Robert’s pioneering spirit and dedication have earned him accolades such as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006 and the Department of Agriculture Award for Best Farm Diversification in the same year. Most significantly, in 2016 The Jungle was awarded Tourism NI’s Outstanding Visitor Experience Award. Under the stewardship of Robert Carmichael, we invite you to join us in a reimagined legacy, where the past seamlessly intertwines with the present.
Nestled amidst the enchanting Sperrin Mountains, Gortanewry Farm beckons with its timeless allure and rich history. Just 45 minutes from Belfast or Derry/Londonderry and two hours from Dublin, this idyllic sanctuary is easily accessible for all, inviting guests to embark on a journey of discovery and delight.
The Farm at The Jungle invites you to be part of our story, where the past meets the present, and every moment is a celebration of the enduring spirit of Gortanewry. Join us for an unforgettable blend of history, hospitality, and heritage.
Enjoy a tour of the grounds & hear about the history of the farm as told by the Carmichael Family. Bake traditional soda bread; while your bread bakes, take the opportunity to get hands on by meeting the animals! Milk a cow and catch piglets, as well as meeting our famous llamas. Then take a ride through the farm on our tractor-drawn haycart, listening to a story while you travel. Returning to one our barns, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a ceili dance or take part in a group bodhran session. After this, you’ll be reunited with your cooked soda bread, to enjoy with a bowl of traditional Irish stew.
Indulge your senses with a sumptuous three-course meal featuring our Gortanewry farm-reared beef, expertly prepared by our own top chef. Each succulent bite is a celebration of our commitment to quality and tradition, as we showcase the rich flavours of our land. But the feast doesn’t end with the last delectable course. Prepare to be transported on a journey through time as our skilled storytellers regale you with unique tales of our local history, followed by a short Irish Trad session to close off an idyllic traditional evening.
