Here’s the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN and WHY:

WHO

This year The Jungle has partnered up with AWARE NI, the leading Depression charity for Northern Ireland, choosing them as our Charity Partner for Rampage 2020.

We are supporting AWARE as they provide a range of vital resources and are on the front lines of the fightback against mental health issues and widening the support networks to help those in need. Through their established network of teams they carry out much needed work and support through Online and Regional Support Groups, Public Awareness Talks, National Awareness Campaigns, Mindfulness Programs, Fundraising events and much more.

We sat down with AWARE and figured out how we can offer something different to companies to address the mental health of their employees.

We at The Jungle believe that spending time in the outdoors and engaging in physical activity are some of the best ways of forming and maintaining a healthy mind and body. Along with AWARE, with their real world experience and knowledge around depression and mental health issues, we feel we can provide a thought provoking, mood enhancing and highly rewarding mental health awareness day for companies who are willing to engage in such practices for their benefit of their employees.

WHAT

The day will take the following format:

Day schedule

Morning

AWARE NI will deliver a Mood Matters Workplace Programme, whereby they teach skills and techniques to look after your mental health, manage feelings when stressed and advise on how to cope with a range of workplace challenges.

Lunch

At lunchtime you will receive a tasty hot lunch to give some much needed energy for the rest of the day. This will normally be Burger or Hotdogs and Chips. Other options are available on request.

Afternoon

The group will then take part in some afternoon activities.

You can choose from the following exciting and unique options, depending on the dynamic of your group:

CRYSTAL CHALLENGE

MENTAL & SKILL CHALLENGES (LOW LEVEL intensity)

Inspired by the cult TV game show ‘The Crystal Maze’, it includes a range of physical, mental and skill challenges all specifically designed to test your physical ability and coordination, mental aptitude, communication and initiative. Delivered in the colourful spectrum of the great outdoors, following along a designated route through our scenic grounds. The group will be divided into teams to compete against each other, stimulating a cohesive bond in each group and promoting team work and communication with the aim of the game being to win as many crystals as possible, by successfully completing the challenges, gaining a crystal. Ideal for groups with mixed abilities.

JUNGLE OLYMPICS

PHYSICAL & SKILL CHALLENGES (MEDIUM LEVEL intensity)

Teams will be assigned a team colour and will work their way round our wonderfully wacky team game challenges, with the aim being a race to win. Think sports day, mixed with ‘It’s A Knockout’ or ‘Total Wipeout’ and you’ll get an idea of what’s involved. Be prepared to get wet, muddy and breathless as you compete for the win through different obstacles, assault courses and other sorts of ridiculousness. Ideal for groups of adults with a normal fitness level.

MINI RAMPAGE

Challenge your team on this outdoor mud run spectacle, complete with a variety of awesome man-made and natural obstacles to conquer, such as the Giant Water Slide, Barbed Wire Crawl, Loki’s Ladders, The Damned, Toxic Quarry, River Ruined, Up & Overs, Placid Ponds and many more.

This will all take place at The Jungle.

WHY

Organisation and industry leaders are starting to recognise and appreciate the necessity of providing appropriate support to their workers in regards to mental health. With rising rates of depression, suicide and mental health problems, it’s vitally important that organisations implement stress reducing techniques and better working practices, as well as being better informed on how to offer the appropriate support to their employees.

Mental health issues can affect us all and the better equipped we are to deal with them ourselves, as well as helping others, the better it will be for us all. We’d like to promote a culture of empathy, support and kindness, only steeled with a more resilient and prepared mindset to cope with the challenges of modern life. We want to provide real and tangible practices to help businesses provide their workers with a positive, supportive and healthy workspace.

These programmes benefit both the employee and employer, as a happier and more content workforce will produce much better results for their employer, as well as reducing absenteeism, reducing conflicts and creating a better working environment for everyone.
