The Jungle Dog Show Results 2024

The Jungle's Dog Show 2024

The Jungle’s Annual Dog Show took place on Easter Tuesday, 2nd April. Held inside, we had a great variety of breeds, sizes, shapes and colours. Molly Mullan kindly judged our event, Molly won Ireland’s Junior Handler of the Year in December 2023. We’d firstly like to say a massive thank you to Molly for judging at this year’s event and keeping things moving in a rather busy afternoon. Molly adds a level of professionalism to The Jungle Dog Show and has a keen eye for detail, enabling a fair competition.

With that said, let’s get down to business…

The Run Down

We had a total of 11 categories, as well as the ‘Best In Show’ final category. Prizes were given out to each winner and the ‘Best In Show’ received the coveted Jungle Best In Show trophy.

Best Gun Dog

First up was the Best Gun Dog category. Our smallest category on the day, we only had one entrant.

Winners

1st – Autumn (Welsh Springer Spaniel)

Best Working Dog

Six fine specimens entered the arena for the Best Working Dog category.

Winners

1st – King (Lurcher)

2nd – Zeus (Doberman)

3rd – Rosie (Collie)

Best Toy Dog

The third category was for Best Toy Dog. A total of 8 cute little specimens strutted their stuff in the judging arena.

Winners

1st – Zuzu (Chihuahua)

2nd – Luma (Shih Tzu)

3rd – Indie (Yorkshire Terrier)

Best Puppy (Under 12 months)

Once again, the cutest round of the day saw the Best Puppies (Under 12 months) take centre stage. A total of 10 made it no easy task to choose the best 3. After much deliberation, along with quite a few ‘oohs’ and ahhs’ from the adoring crowds, they were finally whittled down to the following 3 winners:

Winners

1st – Raya (American Bully Pocket)

2nd – Monte (Long Haired Miniature Daschund)

3rd – Cali (Whippet)

Best Dog

Next up, was the Best Dog category. 14 contenders lined up for this one.

Winners

1st – Toby (Dogue de Bordeaux)

2nd – Bon Bon (Newfoundland)

3rd – Buddy (Cockapoo)

Best Bitch

A huge group of 19 dogs took to the stage to compete for the Best Bitch. This one took some judging, with so many cute little (and BIG) pups competing.

Winners

1st – Takara (Schnauzer)

2nd – Luna (Bedlington Terrier)

3rd – Brodie (Husky x Malamute)

Best Rescue Dog

5 dogs were on show for the Best Rescue Dog category.

2nd – Rua (Rottweiler)

3rd – Olive (Chihuahua)

Best 6 Legs (Owner & Dog)

66 legs roamed the judging arena in our Best 6 Legs category, with 11 dogs and handlers. Owners paraded their pooches around the arena in the hope to be the most in sync Owner and Dog. Here’s the results:

Winners

1st – Rosie (Collie) and Grace

2nd – Lola (Cocker Spaniel) and Rachel

3rd – Myla (French Bulldog) and Samantha

Waggiest Tail

This round presented a rather simple and fun task of finding the Waggiest Tail out of the 16 enthusiastic entrants. Owners were asked to try and get the dogs tail wagging and we simply had to find who’s was wagging the most. The most excited and happiest dogs were as follows…

Winners

1st – Dan (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)

2nd – Bailey (Cocker Spaniel)

3rd – Bonnie (Toy Poodle)

Best Young Handler (Under 16)

Next round was the handlers who were up for judging. 3 Under 16 Dog Handlers took the stage with their furry companions. They were judged on their rapport with the dog, their ability to communicate with them and how well the dog responded to them. All the years of training and bonding with their dogs was now called upon.

Winners

1st – Molly with Cara (Sprockerpoo)

2nd – Mya with Buddy (Cockapoo)

3rd – Izzy with Quill (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)

Best Young Handler (Under 12)

The penultimate round saw an even younger batch of aspiring Dog Handlers take the stage, again with the task of showing how well they could communicate with their dog and how well the dogs responded to them. Our Best Young Handler Under 12 category had 13 young handlers.

Winners

1st – Ciara with Takara (Schnauzer)

2nd – Olivia with Monte (Lurcher)

3rd – Grace with Brodie (Husky x Malamute)

Best In Show

The final round of the day was the Best In Show. All the winners from previous rounds were gathered for the final round. With such an array of awesome and impressive specimens, this was no easy feat to decide the winner. The final call was made and the winner of the coveted Jungle Dog Show Best In Show trophy went to….

Best In Show – TOBY (Dogue de Bordeaux)

Handler – Michelle Bremner

2nd place – Takara (Schnauzer)

3rd place – Autumn (Welsh Springer Spaniel)

Congratulations to Toby & Michelle for winning the 2024 Jungle Dog Show, Best In Show.
