Tarzan’s Tree Top Adventure (Adults) at the Jungle in Magherafelt, Mid Ulster

Go higher

The first high-wire course of its kind in Ireland, and still the biggest challenge we’ve got. More than 50 obstacles wind their way through the trees, reaching heights of up to 70 feet.

Take on rope bridges, scramble nets, tunnels, a Tarzan Swing and zipline before finishing with the Power Fan Drop, a proper free-fall finish that gets you back to solid ground a good deal faster than you got up there.

It’s high. It’s physical. And at some point, it’ll probably ask you to push a little further than you thought you could.

What to expect

Your session starts at the Harness Shed, where our instructors will get you fitted into your harness, show you how to put it on correctly and make sure everything is secure before you head for the trees.

First stop is our ground-level practice course. Your instructor will explain how the safety system works and give you the chance to practise clipping on and off until you’re comfortable using the equipment.

Then it’s time for the real thing. You’ll make your way from platform to platform, clipping on and off as you tackle each obstacle while remaining safely secured to the course.

It takes some upper-body strength, a bit of nerve and a willingness to keep going when your head tells you otherwise.

Our instructors are there throughout to encourage you and help if you need it. If you decide you’ve had enough, there are several points around the course where our team can safely get you back onto solid ground.

Duration and price

Package What’s included Adult Under 16 (4ft8+)
Full Course 30+ elements, zipline, Power Fan Drop. Up to 3 hours £42 £37
Taster Course 10 elements, zipline, Power Fan Drop. Up to 90 minutes £32 £26

Choose between our Taster Course, which takes up to 90 minutes, or take on the Full Course and allow up to 3 hours.

How quickly you finish depends on your confidence, ability and pace around the course, there’s no prize for rushing it.

What to wear and bring

Wear comfortable outdoor clothing that you can move easily in, along with trainers or other closed-toe footwear with good grip. Avoid loose clothing or anything that could get caught while you’re on the course.

Gloves aren’t required, but we recommend them for a little extra grip and comfort. Weightlifting or cycling gloves work best, as you’ll still need enough dexterity to use the clipping system.

Check the forecast before you arrive and bring a waterproof layer if you think you’ll need one.

Weather

A bit of rain won’t stop the adventure. The tree canopy provides some shelter depending on the time of year, and sessions go ahead in most weather conditions.

We inspect the course daily and keep a close eye on the forecast. In extreme conditions, particularly high winds, we may need to cancel and reschedule your session.

Booking

Tree Top sessions are available at selected times throughout the year, with additional availability during our busier summer season.

Bookings close at 4pm the day before your session, so make sure you get booked in ahead of time.

Planning a visit for a larger group, school, youth group or corporate team? Get in touch with our office and we’ll help arrange your session around your day.

Tarzan’s Tree Top Adventure (Adults) FAQs

Do I need to be fit or strong?
Tarzan's Tree Top Adventure is a physical activity and does require some upper-body strength. You'll be climbing, balancing and making your way across obstacles at height, so expect a bit of a workout. You don't need to be super fit, and you can take the course at your own pace, but a reasonable level of mobility and fitness will help you get the most from it.
I'm afraid of heights, can I still do this?
Absolutely! Plenty of people who'd describe themselves as afraid of heights have made it around the course. Our instructors are used to helping people through the nervy bits and will encourage you to keep going when you're unsure. Getting to the end despite the nerves is a big part of what makes it so rewarding.
What if I get scared and want to come down?
Our instructors will encourage you and help you work through any nerves. If you really don't want to continue, there are several exit points around the course where our team can safely get you back onto solid ground.
What's the difference between the Taster and Full course?
The Taster Course includes 10 elements followed by the zipline and Power Fan Drop, and takes up to 90 minutes. The Full Course takes you across 30+ elements, including the zipline and Power Fan Drop, and takes up to 3 hours.
Is there an instructor with us on the course?
Our instructors will get you harnessed up, run through your safety briefing and take you through the practice course before you begin. They won't follow you around every obstacle, but they'll stay close by throughout the session and are there if you need help or a bit of encouragement.
How am I secured on the course?
You'll wear a safety harness and use our safety system as you move between platforms. Before heading into the trees, your instructor will explain exactly how the equipment works and you'll practise clipping on and off on our ground-level training course.
Is this suitable for people with additional needs?
We're happy to welcome everyone on site, and most people manage the course well, but it does involve a real degree of physical and mental challenge. We're not able to assess an individual's ability to take part, that's something we'd ask you to weigh up yourself before booking.
Can I bring a camera or phone onto the course?
We recommend leaving phones, cameras and anything loose on the ground while you're on the course. Loose items can get in the way while you're moving through the obstacles, and we can't take responsibility for anything lost or damaged.
